Rani Mukerji’s role of a journalist in No One Killed Jessica may have been thoroughly applauded by the audience, but her use of the ‘G’ word has put her into trouble, with a campaign to lodge an FIR against her for using the word on the big screen.
On Monday, a press organisation in Punjab, the Patiala Press Club, said that they are filing an FIR against the filmmakers and actors for ‘insulting the press.’ The complaint states: ‘Rani Mukharjee, used the word ‘G***’ which is such a filthy word and can’t be used in our society, as it is nothing but an abuse... (sic)’.
"Why have they represented a female reporter so badly? Rani Mukerji has used such foul language. She uses some shocking words. No female reporter talks like this. They are giving the media a bad name," says Parveen Komal, president, PPC. "We have sent our
complaint to Rani’s house, and to the police. Thousands of people have signed it," he says.
Komal claims filmmakers have ignored their petition, but director Rajkumar Gupta says he’s clueless about this. "I am hearing about this from you. I don’t know the details yet." Even the production house is unclear about the charges, says Vikas Bahl, of UTV.
