Every year, people make resolutions to change something about themselves or start doing something differently.

While we could, of course, set resolutions for ourselves at any time of the year, as tradition has it, we apparently have a better chance at sticking to the ones made on New Year’s!

As I flipped my 2011 diary, I saw apparent changes in work regularity and success that seemed to align with that times I was most in tune with myself and my thoughts. The low phase of it all came when my mind was all over the place and searching for more to do, instead of doing the best job available to me.

Over the course of the year though, from pageants to ads to films, I became more aware of all this and managed to channel my thoughts with greater purpose towards to the end of the year... the results followed suit too! More shoots, ad films and personal satisfaction meant I could now end the year on a high.

I’d love nothing more than to hit 2012 running with the same vigour as I ended this year. Doing bigger and better ad campaigns, regular workouts, general healthy living and plenty of faith in my ability top my list of 2012’s work resolutions.

I got a reality check with my Hindi at a recent film audition for a typical Delhi girl with plenty of slang a la Anushka Sharma. Hindi lessons via Hindi news channels, TV shows and real life situations are therefore on my agenda for the New Year.

On the personal front though, I’m looking forward to a fresh 2012 with plenty of new things to do and learn. One of my Christmas gifts this year was a great cookbook called Miss Masala that made the hint loud and clear: it’s high time I learn how to cook! Something... anything!!!

My wish list for the year also includes attending an advanced yoga course in Kerala that I’ve had my eye on. Yoga has become a bigger part of my life in the last year and helped clear the mental clutter and stay calmer through my daily routine.

Observe more. Stress less. Pray, love and laugh. Drink more water. Steer clear of pickles, processed food and fried foods. Say less and do more.

Here’s hoping you brace yourselves with a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone as you take on what 2012 throws at you! Happy New Year!
