A 1999 photograph of the river Rhine, by German artist Andreas Gursky was sold for $4.3 million (Rs 21.5 crore) at Christie’s, New York, on Tuesday.

It is the highest amount ever paid for any photograph sold on auction. Titled ‘Rhein II’, it’s a chromogenic colour print. The identity of the buyer was not disclosed.
