Salman Khan failed to battle the urge to take a drag even on the eve of World Anti-tobacco Day, and has had to pay a fine for it. The Dabangg star, who was caught on camera puffing away at the local Heritage Hotel while shooting for Bodyguard on Monday, was on Tuesday issued a Rs-200 challan for violating the ban on smoking at a public place.

After pictures of him violating the ban went public on Tuesday, a team of health officials led by Dr Vikas Goyal, the district nodal officer for enforcing anti-tobacco law, reached the hotel, a cop in tow.
Since Salman had left early morning - or so the team was told - the team handed the challan to his staff, and they immediately paid the fine of Rs 200.

"We have also issued a warning to Salman Khan that since this is the second time he has violated anti-smoking law in Punjab, a repeat act would attract more stern punishment," Dr Goyal told HT. Salman was earlier penalised for smoking at a public place in Kurali near Chandigarh by the UT police in 2009, when he was canning a movie there.
Similar acts in Punjab by actor Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan have also courted controversy and attracted fines.
Salman and his co-star Kareena Kapoor are scheduled to shoot for Bodyguard here till June 15.
