Filmmaker Sam Mendes has finally confirmed that he is dating actress Rebecca Hall, more than a year after the pair was first rumoured to be romantically involved.
The American Beauty director was linked to the 29-year-old in the wake of his break-up from wife Kate Winslet amid rumours of his growing friendship with Hall, reported Daily Mail online.
Hall denied she was dating the star and said, "It's the weirdest thing. Of course, he's a good mate. I don't know where (the rumours) came from," she tweeted.
However, a spokesperson for Mendes has now confirmed they are a couple, but insists they only got together after the director had parted ways with Winslet, the mother of his eight-year-old son Joe.
"They are dating and have been for some time. I can't put an exact date on it, but certainly nothing happened until after Sam's marriage was over," the representative said in a statement.
Winslet is now dating business tycoon Richard Branson's nephew Ned Rocknroll.
