Her debut film, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, may not have worked wonders but Sameera Reddy has bagged some plum projects after that, including Milan Luthria’s Taxi No. 9211 with Nana Patekar, and John Abraham that releases soon. HT City caught up with the dusky beauty.

How would you categorise Taxi No. 9211?
It’s a very tough question because it’s not your regular boy-meets-girl or underworld-out-to-get-you story. It’s a story of tension between two men who come from different strata of life and have to tolerate each other.

Tell us something about your role in the film.
I am not a really glamorous girl but definitely a city girl who is very practical very concerned about material success. I play John’s girlfriend.

What was it like working with John?
He is a cool guy, hard working, and very professional. It was a pleasure to work with him.The film seems to be centred on Nana and John. Why did you opt for it?

I liked the subject and set up. I always knew that the film was about the John and Nana chemistry and that’s fine by me.

What next?
There is Gulami directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia with Sunny Deol and Irrfan. Then there’s Ahmed Khan’s Fool & Final with Sharmilaji (Tagore), Shahid Kapur, Viveik Oberoi and Sunny. And then there’s Sachin Bajaj’s Naksha with Sunny and Viveik and Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s next.

What’s the latest on Anees Bazmee’s Benaam and Dasgupta’s Kaalpurush?
Benaam has me with Ajay Devgan. I play this tough girl with a heart of gold. Kaalpurush has got great response and I have been told it will release soon.
