As Shoaib and tennis ace Sania Mirza prepare for their wedding on April 15, Shoaib’s family has hired Delhi-based lawyer Ramesh Gupta to represent him in court against charges by the Siddiquis. Gupta said, “He has denied marrying this girl.”

Gupta explained that the document the Siddiqui family claims is a nikahnama isn’t one. “He never signed a nikahnama. He had just signed his consent to marriage at a later date.”Not legal Gupta refuted any legal ramifications of a telephonic marriage that Ayesha’s family claims was held. “The shariat does not recognise a telephonic marriage,” he said.

About the Siddiquis’ claims that they held a wedding reception for the Pakistan cricket team, Gupta said, “Shoaib has visited her house with his colleagues three times, and every time they gave some excuse that she has gone to study or is ill. When Shoaib realised that he had been fooled, he cut off all contact.”
