Friends of actor Elizabeth Hurley and business tycoon Arun Nayar are shocked at the news of the couple's split. Liz tweeted about their separation on Sunday, soon after she was photographed romancing Aussie cricketer Shane Warne, by a UK tabloid.
"While I've only met Arun socially, he always struck me as a man who was committed to Liz. In the West, attention spans are short, and people and relationships are dispensable," says Nisha Jamvwal, art expert and a family friend of Arun's parents who live in Mumbai.
"I don't know what you are talking about," said Arun's stepmother Joanne Nayar, when asked to react to the split. On being told about Liz's statement that the families were kept in the loop, she said, "All I can say is that my family doesn't know about it."
Meanwhile, Warne and Liz have been openly flirting on Twitter, and Warne has also tweeted about his split with wife, Simone.
Nayar tied the knot with Liz in 2007, after a failed eight-year marriage with model Valentina Pedroni.
