It seems Priyanka Chopra continues to feel shocked and hurt by the Income Tax raid at her properties recently. More so with the reports that Shahid Kapoor, clad only in his shorts, opened the door when the IT officers came knocking at 7.30 in the morning a few days ago. “The only person who stays with me is my mom, who was not present at home,” she says, clarifying his presence at her house when the raid happened. “Shahid stays barely three minutes away from my place. So he was the only person I could call up then. That’s why he was there.”

About the reported discovery of Rs 6 crore at her residence in Raj Classic Apartments in Versova, Andheri, the actor maintains, “Neither had I so much money hidden in my mattresses nor have I seen so much cash together in my life.” Reiterating that she stood by the statement issued through her chartered accountant and her spokesperson, Chopra expressed shock with the way unsubstantiated information was making the rounds as authentic news.

“You believe in rumours when they run it as front-page news, without checking their authenticity. You don’t ask the accused person whether the allegations are true nor do you substantiate it with any paper work,” she says, blaming the media for the reports that were published after the raid, adding, “I’ve never experienced anything like this before. Whatever happened has deeply hurt me. I have already said whatever I had to and we have continuously cooperated with the investigating authorities.”
