Despite receiving accolades for her role in the Telugu blockbuster, Gabbar Singh, Shruti Haasan has shifted base to Mumbai. “From now on, Mumbai will be my home. I have rented a place of my own in Bandra. Although I’m currently living on rent, I plan to buy an apartment soon,” says Kamal Haasan’s daughter. “But this doesn’t mean that I will stop working in Tamil-Telugu films.”
The singer-actor says that since she largely plans to focus on Bollywood, it would be easier for her to live in the city. “It’s such a high to be able experience different cultures and industries. I will travel wherever my art takes me,” says Shruti, whose mother Sarika is based in Mumbai while father is in Chennai.
Riding high on Gabbar Singh — her biggest blockbuster to date — Shruti admits to feeling great: “Being part of any blockbuster makes you happy,” she says. Before the Pawan Kalyan-action film became a big hit, Shruti was tagged as the ‘unlucky’ heroine in terms of box-office success.
“Why should one look only at numbers and figures to determine how big a film is or will be? 7aam Arivu has been appreciated a lot and so has 3. They have done very well commercially, too. But of course, Gabbar Singh has been the most successful of the lot,” she says.

“In all my films, my roles have never been the same — be it Luck (2009) or even the more recent, 3,” she says, adding that her father hasn’t seen the film yet since he has been travelling.
