Music mogul Simon Cowell isnot engaged, his publicist has clarified after a spate of reports which claimed that the American Idol judge has popped the question to his Afghani girlfriend MezhganHussainy.
The couple have been dating since last fall and the Internet is abuzz with reports of an impending wedding after Hussainy was spotted with a diamond on her ring finger.
But 50-year-old Cowell's longtime publicist Max Clifford has rubbished the reports.
"I spoke to Simon in London, just before he took his flight back to Los Angeles. I asked him, 'Look, are you engaged? Is it true?' And he said: 'No! No. I'm not engaged'," Clifford told Us magazine.
The publicist added that Cowell is happy with the 36-year-old make-up artiste but they will not be settling down anytime soon.
"Yes, they are an item. Yes, they're happy. But they're not engaged. That's straight from Simon's mouth," said Clifford.
