The official Facebook page of Delhi University (DU) that launched on Monday may clarify all their doubts, but prospective students have also started messaging teachers on their personal pages, hoping for some jugaad during admissions. In fact, it’s not just professors, even members of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) are on the receiving end of ‘friend requests’ and online queries. “I have been getting queries from unknown people on various issues related to admissions.
While some want to know about the admission procedure, others want to know if they will get a seat in a particular college,” says Amna Mirza, Delhi University teaching assistant, Department of political science. Mirza feels that it’s very easy to get their names as it is there on the University website. “On Google they find out what we look like and then send us queries on Facebook,” says Mirza.
Megha Kumar (name changed), Teaching assistant, Department of Hindi, too, has similar things to say. "Facebook has become the easiest medium for aspirants to get in touch with us. I have not only got queries on my Facebook wall, but also mails from students," says Kumar. It’s not just online queries, teachers are being flooded with query calls on their phones too.
“This time, the admission process being a little different, students are a bit confused. Subsequently, they are calling up the teachers to find out about the courses and colleges,” said Sudnya Kulkarni, Assistant Professor, Janaki Devi College. The DUSU being a popular body is flooded with queries too. “Students leave messages on Facebook with queries related to admission and accommodation. So, starting June 15, we’ll have a DUSU Facebook page dedicated to handling queries of students,” said Neetu Dabas, Secretary, DUSU.

At the time of going to print, the page had 2,000 ‘Likes’.
The fanpage resolves various admission related queries. The moderator keeps updating the page every hour.
The page has pictures of Delhi University and various events that took place in the campus.
