The swimmer and the rugby player first hooked up in August 2010 after their much public flirtation over Twitter and in public.

Sources close to the couple say the split has been coming for a while and that they both moved out of Rice's $ 1.265 million, four bedroom house in October.

Rice and Cooper also spent a lot of time apart this year, as she attempted to overcome her ailing shoulder injury and regain her world dominance in time for the 2012 London Olympics.

"Stephanie has officially split with Quade and will be focusing 100 per cent on her Olympic preparation," the Daily Telegraph quoted her manager Titus Day as telling Confidential.
