Stereotype

What is a stereotype? And I don’t mean the dictionary definition, of typecasting and fitting in. What does it really mean today? Has the need to strive to be so away from the description of a “stereotype” become the new “not a stereotype.”

You get the idea. Soon grey is so yesterday and yellow is the new blue and in some strange confused way we run into our own clichés. When it comes to stereotypes we have consumed our own tail. In the world we live in infested with arm chair critics and virtual villains, it’s easier than you would imagine judging a book by its cover.

In an ideal world we’d all be books wrapped in the same brown paper with the people taking time and effort to "get to know" a person and then go on TV and cry about it or rather smile through the tears...wait a minute that does sound very much like the real world! Tee hee well I guess we all fight the very stereotypes we build up.

People assume that the class topper is the smartest, but its not so. People who judge a book by its very glossy wrapper (and by that I mean fashion) are another breed. I wouldn’t tell the difference from one and another for the longest time! I thought Gucci and Gabbana were the same thing forever!! I mean they’re both G’s! All I cared was about Duke Nukem and Doom.

That brings to the very core of my incessant rambling… the balance. It’s ok to eat masala dosa in ripped jeans and it’s perfectly fine to make hinglish you’re own language of communication. The point is with these non stereotypes, we have created a new genre of the stereotypes. So at the end of the day, the only thing that clicks, works, sells or whatever else...is YOU. You are and always will be the new cool.
