Students set to storm the stage

Gear up for some great theatre. The selections are over and 22 of the best theatre groups Delhi’s colleges have to offer are ready to showcase a range of brilliant plays. Presented in association with HT City, the campus performances at the 3rd Atelier Youth Theatre Week start on November 16 at the Faculty of Arts, Delhi University from 10.30 am onwards.

Some of the plays to look forward to in this five-day fest are: Romeo Juliet aur Andhera, presented by the students SGTB Khalsa College and directed by Trishant Srivastava, is an adaptation of Yan Otnecesak’s novel Romeo Juliet at Tama. The play depicts the love story between a Muslim boy and a Hindu girl in Pakistan. Also of interest is Hairy Tales from Here and There by the students of Lady Shri Ram College. Promaona Sengupta, the director, says, “The play revolves around the most underrated body part — the hair, and all the myths and traditions associated with it”.

Maujood, a play by students of SRCC, deals with the voices in our heads. Talking about the experimental idea, director Anuj Adlakaha says, “It’s just one of those ideas that come in your mind when you’re sitting idle. It really has no definition.”
