The Rock & Roll Sun Goddess sand sculpture by The Sandy Bottom Crew of Jason Pace, won the first place in the amateur division of the Navarre Beach Sand Sculpting Festival in Florida.

At the Navarre competition, sculptors worked away from the ocean on the beach behind an area of sand berms, where oil did not wash on shore. Organisers said the spot was selected because of concerns about nesting sea turtles
and crowds.
