Symonds is all for ‘fighting it out’

“If players could fight it out on the field itself, it’d take a lot of rubbish out of cricket,” feels Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds, and he seriously hopes to implement that if he’s ever given a chance to. And there’s more crazy stuff on his mind. “I’d love to walk the moon,” says Symonds, on a recent visit to Delhi.”

Symonds is happy promoting the Champion’s League on ESPN, but is disappointed that Deccan Chargers are not a part. “But that’s life, and I’m not sobbing,” he says, adding that even after IPL and Champion’s League, cricket will ever be as big as football. Symonds, who “is fond of India”, is yet to like Indian curry. “It’s too heavy for players,” he says. “But I have tried the biryani.” And what does he think of the country as a traveller? “There’s so much culture and colour here. A cow or a monkey can come out of anywhere on the street,” he adds. Monkeys’ just don’t seem to leave Symonds.
