Filmmaker Venky Atluri recently shot a promotional video for his upcoming film, Vishwanath & Sons, with actors Suriya, Mamitha Baiju, and Radhika Sarathkumar. While talking about the film’s shoot, the team revealed that Radhika shot a comedy scene for the film minutes after learning of her mother, Geetha Radha’s, death.

Venky recalled the moment in the promotional video and said, “We were shooting a proper comedy scene. It was a proper comedy scene, and that was when the news came that Radikaa ma’am’s mother had just passed away. But she asked, can I finish this scene and leave? I froze for a second and just went completely blank.”
Radhika explained her decision to stay and shoot, “85% of the scene was done. Only five shots were left. It was impossible to recreate the scene later. I came to the shoot when my mother was in the hospital. I knew it was a critical time, but she said, no, go shoot.” Mamitha recalled that just a day earlier, Radhika had told her about the close bond she shared with her mother. She says she was heartbroken while seeing her perform the scene despite the news. “I was speechless,” said Mamitha.
Suriya, who shares a close relationship with Radhika and her family, also praised the actor’s dedication. “Look at the immense respect she is giving to her craft. That dedication is exactly why she has sustained such a legendary career to this day. It reflects the deep love and respect she holds for herself and for everything cinema has given her,” he said. Geetha died in Chennai in September 2025 at the age of 86 from age-related health issues.

One is my mother, the other is my guru Bharathiraja. Words cannot describe this pain. Words fail me. My heart feels heavy. Their memories and life lessons have taught me and will remain with me forever.”
