This week, the city has a big rainbow overhead. Gay pride is spreading its wings over different venues and events, with the Delhi Queer Pride March, Nigah Queer Fest, pride rock and Paris’s most popular pink DJ hotting up the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) party scene.

While the Nigah Queer Fest, which includes film screenings, workshops, dance-music performances and art, began on November 18, the 4th Delhi Queer Pride March on Sunday is expected to see thousands of participants parade in celebration. On the same day, the Rock for Rights Concert, which advocates solidarity, freedom and pride, will see its inaugural event.

“The vibe is all over the city, the scene is becoming bigger. There’s the queer fest, the march, the Parisian DJ and a massive party on Saturday,” says Mohnish Kabir Malhotra, a gay-rights activist and one of the organisers of the parade.

Members and supporters of the community say it shows the Capital’s changing attitude. “It is great that there is an entire week of pride ahead; more people will get a chance to celebrate at different places and in different ways. With so much happening, it feels good to be part of the group,” says Manpreet, a member-activist from the community.
