This afternoon, almost all action in Bollywood will come to a halt. Reason: India-Pakistan semi-final clash at the ongoing ICC World Cup. While a fair number of stars will be catching the game on their TV sets, Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Arbaaz Khan, Malaika Arora, Suniel Shetty, Rahul Bose and Angad Bedi will be catching the action live in Mohali.
Such is the hype, that tickets are believed to be going for prices as high as Rs 24,000 each. It’s learnt that some airlines have scheduled extra flights on this sector and also hiked fares for the same.
However, B-town is chartering planes to ensure they reach PCA Stadium in good time for the match.
It is learnt that Arbaaz and company had to take a 3 am flight. While he was unavailable for comment, Angad Bedi, who was on the same flight, attributed it to the heavy traffic on the sector. “There are a lot of security issues due to the traffic. Flights, which are not being able to land in Chandigarh, are being diverted to Amritsar,” he revealed, adding, “An India-Pakistan semi-final clash at the World Cup is a rare moment. So many people are even flying to Delhi, from where they will drive to Mohali.”

Aamir and his wife Rao have chartered a flight at noon. Initially, the perfectionist actor was to watch the game at home. But when he got the tickets, he cancelled the shooting of his suspense thriller directed by Reema Kagti, suggesting the entire team take Wednesday off to see the match. “But obviously, I want India to win the match and I’ll be very sad otherwise,” said the actor, adding that irrespective of the result, “We should be great hosts and win the hearts of the world with our hospitality.”
Suniel, who’s flying along with industrialist friend, Gautam Singhania in his private jet at 8 am, enthused, “When it’s a big game, I’d rather catch the action live. I’m very bullish about Team India.”
Not surprisingly, the actor is certain the Men In Blue will beat the opposition at Mohali today. “We’ll stay on to celebrate India’s win with a party,” he said.
