Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody on his role in Predators and how India got him spiritually reconnected.

Actor Adrien Brody, who won an Academy Award for his role as a Polish Jewish pianist in The Pianist (2002), says his transformation into a muscleman came after he prepared for his role in his latest film, Predators, by living in the jungle, exercising every day and giving up sex.

Here’s knowing more in a tête-à-tête. Tell us about your role in Predators. I play an ex-military man Royce, who begins the movie with no idea of where he is or the circumstances that brought him there.

What do you think about the Predator as a character?
It’s such an iconic apex, the Predator, so to speak. I mean, the character is the embodiment of the most lethal hunter, the most lethal killer. It’s certainly something that stayed in my subconscious since the original.

The most challenging part of the film...?
You have to tap into the fear of running from something that is incredibly dangerous and make that believable at the same time. You’ve got to find some level of truth to that. And that is very challenging.
