High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens has reportedly been roped in to star in the musical Rent.The actress is said to have landed the role of Mimi, an HIV-positive exotic dancer and drug addict in the stage musical that will be directed by Neil Patrick Harris. It will run for three nights in August at the Hollywood Bowl, reported imdb.com.

“She came in for a work session and I must say, Vanessa really impressed. She looks amazing, has great vocal chops and seems really committed to honouring the somewhat iconic role of Mimi,” the website quoted Harris. “I look forward to audiences seeing a dark, edgy and very different side of Vanessa.”
