Malaika Arora Khan is not ready to take on more than the average ‘blink-and-miss’ role in movies. She was last seen in Sajjid Khan’s Housefull, in which she plays Deepika Padukone’s older sister.
Quiz her about her movie fundas and she asserts, “I’ve always maintained that I’m not interested in full-fledged roles. My role in Housefull was small but integral to the plot and I did it for Sajid because he’s a dear friend. I’d never say no friends,” says the Khan bahu (daughter-in-law). Khan was also seen gyrating for Sajid’s debut film Heyy Baby. Is she turning into the filmmaker’s lucky mascot? “You know, I was telling him the same thing just yesterday. But he’d hate to admit that and I’m sure he’ll want to strangle me if word about me being his ‘lucky mascot’ spreads,” says Khan between bursts of laughter.
The actor-cum-host is also getting ready for her new assignment with television channel Colors. “Yes, I am doing something for Colors, but I can’t reveal anything at the moment. I’m sure the channel would want to be the first ones to let things out,” she says hesitantly.
Talking about television, Khan was a judge on the reality show Zara Nach Ke Dikha on Star One last year. Now the serial has been moved to Star Plus and will have Shilpa Shetty take on Khan’s role. Ask Khan if it has led to any bad blood between Shetty and her and she laughs it aside again, “Celebrities are not that shallow, you know. No body has the time to sit and hold grudges for such petty issues. Shilpa and I get along very well. The show is getting a makeover and the channel wants to give it an entirely different look and feel,” she clarifies
