First off, we asked him if he agreed with co-star Sonam Kapoor’s comment that modern-day Delhi is Jane Austen’s England. “My memories of Delhi are a DTC bus. I caught that bus to school, then to college. I think my name is till engraved on it. I was in an all boys school — no women! I called my first girlfriend ‘Ma’am’ for years,” came his reply.

Asked if he’s read any Jane Austen novel, he said, “I met her, we hung out and I think she came on to me.” But quickly added, “I never got beyond the first four pages!”

Right! Curiously enough, both his Bollywood films —

and

Aisha

— were based out of the Capital. “Ya, I don’t know what’s up with that. What am I doing in Mumbai? I leave Delhi and overnight it becomes a cool place. I should just get paid to live in a place and leave it. I grew up in GK-II and there were just urinals and one water tank. Now, suddenly, it’s the coolest place to hang out!”
