There are always two sides to a coin. In Prince William’s case, more so. The 28-year-old son of Prince Charles of Britain, who suffers from a marked balding patch on his crown, is being shown with a thick mane on the coin that has being designed to commemorate his marriage to Kate Middleton on April 29.
The Birmingham Mint-designed coins, which are being sold across Britain for £5, are drawing flak for the generosity shown to William’s receding hairline. Though the makers claim that the artist drew inspiration from several images of the Prince and the final picture was approved by Williams and the Queen, the shoppers aren’t amused.
“Kate should best make the most of running her fingers through William’s locks while she can,” commented a user on the web. Another comment reads, “OMG Prince Williams has more hair on the coin than he ever had on his head!” Ankita Singh, a London-based chef, says, “It’s hilarious, may be Williams didn’t want to show his wedding memorabilia 20 years down the line to his children and have them wonder about his bald patch!” Hairstylists, too, can’t stop chuckling. Hair expert Samantha Kochhar says, “Prince William is definitely entitled to his own choice about his looks, but it would have been better if he hadn’t gone for the change. He is dashing even with his thinning hair.”
Celebrity stylist Jayati Bose says, “The fact that Williams hasn’t gone for hair weaving shows that he is cool with his looks. May be it is the makers of the coin who are to be blamed!”
