“It was kind of her to play peacemaker. Dad talks to me now,” smiles Yuvraj, who missed going home post the Delhi promotions of his film. “I’m from Agra and while in Delhi, I couldn’t go home to meet my family because I’ve been disowned for playing a gay character on screen.”

Didn’t he try explaining things to his father? "He is a small-town man and doesn’t understand concepts like gay. Probably, someone or some newspaper report poisoned his thoughts that I had gone completely nude for some pornographic film. I didn’t know how to explain the relevance of certain scenes in the story," reasons Yuvraj.

“Zeenatji assured me that she would do her best. She explained to my father that the film had won awards. She and Helenji were part of the project and they wouldn’t do a film just like that,” says Yuvraj. “It helped but I still don’t have permission to go home. My father will watch the movie with me on Friday. If he likes it, I will get to meet my family soon.”

When asked, Aman says, “I asked Mr Parashar whether he would be proud if his son played a smuggler? I told him that he should be proud as Yuvraj has bravely played the lead role in the first Indian gay film ever.”
