After a series of link-ups, actress Amrita Arora is ready to settle down with her businessman boyfriend Shakeel Ladak. The two will have a church wedding and an Islamic nikaah next month.
A private nikaah
The actress’s designer friend Ashley Rebello reveals that the church wedding will take place on March 4 and the nikaah on March 6 at Shakeel’s house. Amrita has a Christian mother, thus the church ceremony. While the nikaah will be attended only by the two families, the catholic wedding will have both family and friends present. The reception is on the same day as the nikaah at Taj Land’s End in Bandra.
The mehendi will reportedly take place at Salman Khan’s house [Galaxy apartments]. Amrita’s sister Malaika is married to Salman’s brother Arbaaz. Guests include Saif Ali Khan, Farah Khan, Fardeen Khan, Arjun Rampal, to name a few.
A varied line-up
Amrita started dating Shakeel last year soon after her break-up with cricketer Usman Afzal. Her previous list of boyfriends includes singer Kamaal Khan, and actors Upen Patel and Ashmit Patel.
The trousseau
Good friend Kareena Kapoor will be Amu’s bridesmaid along with makeup artist Mallika Bhatt. Sis Malaika is the maid of honour. For the church wedding, Amrita will wear a vintage gown designed by Ashley Rebello, with delicate Christian Dior lace and a satin lining. The designer has gone to Paris to get the lace. “Bebo and Malaika will wear Grecian peach gowns,” Rebello tells us. To get the look of a begum at the nikaah, the bride has chosen a traditional emerald green and maroon sharara with a thin net dupatta. At the reception immediately after the nikaah, Amrita will wear a modern take on the lehenga with an off- shoulder blouse in gold — an ensemble designed by Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra. “It is a bubblegum pink lehenga with tones of antique gold. It is made in 18 metres of brocade. The dupatta is a 4-metre drape,” says Nikhil.

Me first, says Ayesha
Actress Ayesha Takia will get married to hotelier boyfriend Farhan Azmi at the end of this month. Her mother Farida says that the wedding, slated for December 2008, was postponed because of the Mumbai terror attacks and the ill health of Farhan’s father, SP leader Abu Azmi. “The wedding will now be in the end of February in Mumbai,” she says. “Ayesha is very happy. She is still working on her films and will continue working in films even after her marriage.”
