Style experts say cricket god Sachin Tendulkar’s straight hair may have been a good experiment, but his curls suited him far better and it’s time he got them back.
The suggestions started to pour in after Sachin appeared in a press conference in Pune on Wednesday, with his straight mop side-parted neatly in a ’70s style. “Sachin has a broad face, so the curly hair suits him more than the straight look. This hairstyle is falling flat on him, making him appear even more broad,” says hair expert Tanhee Nagar.
Hair guru Shival Ghai says, “The hair is too straight and unmanageable. The parting is also too clear. His older style suited him more ... the new one doesn’t highlight his features. Instead of looking young and cool, he looks like a schoolboy.”
Hair artist Richa Aggarwal says, “Compared to Sachin’s curls and thick mop which he sported earlier, this style is a bit childish and may not go down well with his fans ... there have been so many hair jokes about him already.”
Jawed Habib, however, feels the new look is a refreshing change and that Sachin should keep it. “Let him enjoy his new look at least for a while. People are used to seeing him in a particular curly look, so it’s tough for them to accept him in his new hairstyle ... it’ll take some time.”
