Re-interpret your closet and re-drape all your geometric patterned silhouettes to beget more ideas and sartorial options. Our personal favourite picks for the new fashion season include colours in the tone of jade, purple, mint and oxblood. Metallic inputs, Chantilly lace play, experimental denims, deep-hued leather and digital mismatched prints are expected to stay hot.

GAURAV GUPTA
Gupta, known for his edgy take on silhouettes, says that the spring/summer season will see a fresh colour palette and brightness all around.Neon colours and shades will be really big this season. While last year’s rage, peplum, might not make a big impact this season, sheer will stay on for the summer. For the red carpet look, sheer backs, plunging necklaces, gold inputs and lace will be celeb choice for the red carpet,he says.

RAHUL MISHRA
His designs have come to be known for their simplistic, ethnic and experimental take on fashion — from khadi dresses to reversible Kerala jackets — and Mishra says that this season too, ecologically sensetised and sensible style will take the centre stage on the ramp. It will be all about ecological colours and designs this season, inculcated in the way of fabrics and colours. Organic fashion is here to stay, he says.

RITU KUMAR
The style veteran predicts natural fabrics, ‘happy’ colours and bohemian style. There will be many small items in the closet, like scarves, gilets and crinkle skirts, layered all one over the other. Accessories are going to be important with baroque and vintage influences, and the standard suit will give way to co-ordinates. A distinctive style handwriting is left to the wearer, rather than only the designer, says Kumar.

SUNEET VARMA
Varma says that when it comes to trends, they should be localised, as international ones can’t be emulated blindly. Since there is a difference in fashion seasons and the intensity of weather too, we need to recognise them aptly. This season, green will be big. Applique, velvet, two-toned taffeta silk, sheer and nets will be fashionable too. I also think that people will increasingly look at more affordable options to dress up, he says.

TARUN TAHILIANI
Known for his exquisite designs and attention to detail, Tahiliani forecasts the continuance of experimentation, but he also says that in the bridal wear realm, the classic touch will stay intact.Beautiful and traditional colours, and layering will always be on trend, and will be this year too. Also, concept saris are flying off the shelves. So, I have come to think that they will be the new idioms of style, he says.
