Says designer Urvashi Kaur, “It’s great that events, such as Australian Open allow tennis beauties to embrace bold designs. Why should we expect tennis divas to don only boring whites and drab cuts. It's exciting to see tennis players get experimental with designs and colours.”

The edgy and youthful styles may have glammed up the sporting event, but have not gone down too well with everyone's fashion sensibilities.

Designer Rina Dhaka says there’s no point in going over the top on the court. Dhaka says, “It’s like pushing fashion to an edge. It’s quite revolting. Frills tend to fly up a lot and expose your behind. When you wear such attires at an event where all eyes are glued to you, it shows all, leaving little to the imagination."

Frill it up right
1 Breeze freeze: Don’t wear a short frilly skirt on a breezy day. You certainly don’t want your behinds on display. An excess of frills and ruffles are for the babies.

2 Is it for me? Keep your body shape in mind. “A short frilly skirt does more harm than good to a bottom-heavy woman,” says Urvashi Kaur.

3 Avoid overdoze: Focus on one element at a time. "While showing off your sexy legs, it doesn't make sense to wear a deep neck top," says Rina Dhaka.

4 Accessorise right: A pair of hoop earrings and a small pendant is all that you need to jazz up the look.
