Gen Next makes its mark at Lakme Fashion Week

The stand-out debut at Lakme Fashion Week this year was Ujjawal Dubey with his label, Antar Agni. Others who impressed were Parul Bhargava, with her label Mirage; and Chandni Mohan with Selvage.

The opening day of the Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014 kicked off with the Gen Next show, where six young designers made their debut. Every season, this show serves as a platform to showcase upcoming talent, and several of its participants have gone on to become established names in the field. This time, the designers were mentored by Anita Dongre, who will also be showcasing her new collection later in the week.

Arguably the stand-out performer was Ujjawal Dubey with his label, Antar Agni. Most people in the audience picked him as the one to watch out for, because of the raw, rugged-yet-easy-going vibe his outfits exuded. Our favourites were the cotton and chambray dhotis, paired with kurtas, jackets and turbans.
