Once considered the symbol of the tacky style from the late 80s to now turning into the biggest style rage - big, back combed hair in all it’s avatars has surely had a turbulent ride. Back in the day, it was actor Joan Collins on the cult soap Dynasty who made this hair do a rage, and now carrying the baton forward are a slew of Bollywood and Hollywood celebs. "A lot of retro looks are making a comeback right now (wide-leg pants, disco shimmer, neon eyes), and the 80s 'high hair' trend is one of them.

But 2011's volume trend is all about luxurious volume with health and gloss-hair that looks expensive," says Nandini Bhalla, editor Cosmopolitan India. “With back-combed hair you get great volume which works well on many different shapes of face and can also be styled in various ways,” says hair expert Martian Wu. “All you need is a few, easy-to-use hair products and you can style your hair like this on your own. And viola, instant glamour!” adds hair and beauty guru Jawed Habib.
