In an attempt to figure out how short is too short and what length is appropriate for what occasion, HT City spoke to fashion experts across the city.

For designer Nikhil Mehra, as long a pair of shorts covers the “thigh region” there can be nothing inappropriate about it. Designer Varun Bahl, who reiterates that there was “nothing wrong” with Michelle’s shorts, adds, “as long as one doesn’t wear shorts for any kind of official event there’s really no question of a debate about appropriateness.”

Recommending mid-thigh shorts for Delhi’s women — keeping in mind the weather — designer Ritu Kumar says, “While this is the most appropriate attire for any casual gathering, those who are conscious of grabbing attention can try slightly longer style like capris.”
