Fashion and Bollywood are inseparable, and, when it’s couture time, the starry touch becomes even more apparent. At India Couture Week 2017, organised by Fashion Design Council of India in Delhi, with Hindustan Times as the associate partner, expect the runways to be star lit.
At Rohit Bal’s couture showcase at Bikaner House today (July 24), actor Arjun Rampal is expected to walk the runway. This is not the first time that Rampal would be playing the fashion muse for Bal, who is known for his Kashmir-inspired couture.
On Wednesday (July 26) actor Bhumi Pednekar, who will be seen in Toilet - Ek Prem Katha alongside actor Akshay Kumar, will walk for designer Reynu Taandon. She is showcasing a collection called Cyan, high on peacock blues and monsoon motifs.
Designer duo Shyamal & Bhumika, who will be showcasing on the couture runway in Delhi for the first time, will have actor Athiya Shetty turn showstopper on Wednesday too.
Athiya’s also set for the release of her film, Mubarakan. “Since it’s our first show at the India Couture Week, we couldn’t think of anyone better than the beautiful Athiya Shetty. She is a superstar who’s creating magic on and off the screen and she pulls of our designs beautifully,” the duo told us.
On Thursday (July 27) actor Dia Mirza will walk for designer Anju Modi. Modi is showcasing a collection which is inspired by the miniature art of Kishangarh.
The next day, on Friday, designer Monisha Jaising will showcase an Opera-inspired collection, and, actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra will walk for her.
“As soon as I met Shilpa, it immediately struck me that she is the only one to do justice to the showstopper ensemble. Not only is she stunningly beautiful, but also one of the fittest actresses in the industry.” says Jaising.
On the penultimate day of couture week, actor Aditi Rao Hydari will walk for designer Gaurav Gupta.
“Aditi is a very close friend and we love each other. Since the beginning of her career she has been very close to me and the brand. She often comes to my factory in Noida and has picked up several outfits since the time she started out. She is just so beautiful inside out and sophisticated, yet has an edge to her which a lot of people don’t see, which resonates with the brand. Also, she is full of surprises!” Gupta says.
On the last day, on Sunday (July 30), designer Rina Dhaka’s show will be a runway-less viewing, and the jewellery-inspired creations also have a heart. The sales from the collection will go towards the cause of the girl child, as she collaborates with the NGO, Smile. Actor Huma Qureshi will be a part of the showcase.
