A recent fashion event in Delhi threw up plenty of new trends.

The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) in Delhi ended on Sunday (October 13) after five days of mostly well-appreciated shows. With new trends emerging and some older ones resurfacing, we pick the highlights.

Loose peplum
Tired of seeing body-con dresses with flares at the waist? Designer Vaishali S breathes life into the trend that’s stayed three seasons past its sell-by date. This loose, floaty version may not be suited for the top-heavy, though. Tread carefully.

Bermudas
Next time your man hits the beach in his knee-length swimwear, match his silhouette with a pair of bermuda shorts. Shweta Kapur showed them as part of her label, 431-88, as did Aneeth Arora with Pero. It’s the perfect length for our city’s weather.

Slouchy pants
They are a rage in the west — with leather versions being the garb of choice among several celebs — and Masaba has brought them to Indian shores. Wear her printed version with a plain T-shirt by day, satin shirt by night, and add statement jewellery to grab attention.

Palazzo patialas
You’ve seen palazzos; you know the patialas — now meet the hybrid. Designer Urvashi Kaur skipped the conventional route and went with these super-cute flared versions of the traditional garment, doing away with the typically tapered bottoms. We love.

Polka dots
The last time they were a rage, we saw them in retro-inspired outfits. Now, polka dots have a more modern usage. The best ambassadors for the fun print were Hemant and Nandita with some pretty separates and Ashish N Soni with structured.
