Struck by the red carpet beauty trends — be it actor Angelina Jolie’s luscious red lips at the 84th Academy Awards, actor Bipasha Basu’s bold catty eyes or singers Rihanna’s famous reverse French manicure. Spring is all about experimenting and exploring beauty trends. To begin with, you can give a retro twist to your hairstyle with side-swept soft curls like actor Sonam Kapoor or make a statement in slightly thick eyebrows taking a hint from yesteryear actor Elizabeth Taylor. Beauty expert Shahnaz Husain says, “Spring 2012 is all about catty eyes, fuller pouts, voluminous hair, power brows and highlighted cheekbones in subtle shades of bronze and pink.” Here’s how to get the spring look.

Metallic eyes with winged eyeliner
How to get the look: Beauty expert Shahnaz Husain says,“Dramatic and heavy eye makeup, with the winged-eye look is here to stay. This look suits Indian features more and helps to create larger eyes. Start from the inner corner of the lashline of the upper eyelid and stretch the liner till the outer edge while giving it a dramatic turn upwards. Finish this by lining the lower lids with kohl.”

Girly sun-kissed cheeks
How to get the look: As far as the blush colour goes, soft rose blends in beautifully on all skin tones, especially when paired with a similarly toned blush. Beauty expert Vidya Tikari says, “This makes the face look fresh and squeaky clean and the sun-splashed cheeks are definitely very hot. Achieve this effect by contouring the high parts of the face with lush peach bronze and you’re good to go.”

Modern interpretation of retro hairstyles
How to get the look: Singer Adele set the bar with her bouffant at this year’s Grammy awards. Beauty expert Blossom Kochhar says, “The layered look is in vogue. Or, you can have long hair with cascading waves. Big curls especially in the lower half of the hair are also trendy this spring. One can also put up the hair in a bun or pony tail and use glamorous hair accessories for an outdoor occasion.”

Colour lips in shades of red
How to get the look: Makeup artist Nikita Sharma of Body Shop says, “Go slow and steady using reds. To contemporise, you can use alternatives like wine or classic maroon as your lip shade. You can also experiment with other bold lip colours such as fuschia, hot pink, orange, etc. But always remember, when wearing bright red, the rest of the face needs to look flawless.”
