Who looks better, Sonakshi or Kim?

Italian luxury house Salvatore Ferragamo’s houndstooth wrap dress for its Fall 2011 collection was spotted on Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha at the Vogue Fashion Night Out party in the Capital this year, and more recently on reality TV star Kim Kardashian at an event in New York City.

Houndstooth pattern in a classic one, but when two celebrities wear a new version of the same houndstooth pattern dress it calls for a close style inspection. Italian luxury house Salvatore Ferragamo’s houndstooth wrap dress for its Fall 2011 collection was spotted on Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha at the Vogue Fashion Night Out party in the Capital this year, and more recently on reality TV star Kim Kardashian at an event in New York City.



While both ladies are touted to be a designers’ muse due to their curvy body shapes, did this dress do any justice to them? Fashion consultant Nitasha Gaurav and Elle India fashion editor Malini Banerji give us their expert opinions on these sightings.

“Sonakshi kept her look more fun with a sling bag. It’s simple, clean and unfussy, which is appealing. A slightly shorter length on the skirt would have been fresher,” says Nitasha.

“Quite like the sexy secretary look. I think the houndstooth pattern can look a bit overwhelming especially if the dress is too covered up and you’re not too tall. But the dress looks great on Kim,” says Malini.

“Love this dress as it is really feminine and sexy. Wish the slight flash of skin through the slit on the thigh could be retained. Sonakshi could have worn the hair differently — the straight, long hair is so predictable and boring,” says Malini.

“The dress fits her like a glove, she looks hot! Although her makeup is rather fierce, the girl
needed to go a little easier with the caterpillar eyelashes — there is such a thing as too much mascara,” says Nitasha about Kardashian’s look.
