As many celebrities are choosing to get fitter with strict diets and intense workout regimes, we speak to fitness experts on the right way of going about it.

A host of celebrities from the glam world seem to be on a drive to lose weight. Actors Satish Kaushik and Jaaved Jaaferi, comedian Tanmay Bhatt and choreographer Ganesh Acharya, have all gone the fit way, recently.

Satish Kaushik says his weight loss is the result of him controlling his diet.

“This health trip has changed my life,” says Kaushik who has lost 23 kilos. The 61-year-old actor transformed himself for his 5-year-old daughter Vanshika. “I shed the kilos so that I can run around with her,” he shares. Speaking about the journey to a slimmer self, Kaushik shares, “I was referred to a doctor in Los Angeles. While losing weight I followed a protein diet in which you take 500 calories a day and don’t eat after 9pm. You eat at noon the next day. It was tough initially, but I got used it and I am feeling much lighter now,” he says.

Tanmay lost 110 kilos thanks to fitness coach Ranveer Allahbadia, says, “He really enjoyed powerlifting (squat, deadlift and bench press). He also ate super clean. We did the ketogenic diet, a primarily zero carb bodybuilding diet. It’s a very difficult diet to follow.”

A strict diet has also helped host-actor Jaaved Jaaferi, who posted a photo of his ripped avatar online. Speaking about how he got the eight packs, the 53-year-old says, “I went on a four-month gluten-free and dairy-free diet. There was Ramadan in the middle and I did some weight training.”

From TRX exercise to following a diet, actor Anupam Kher is in a happy space now, thanks to diet and workout. He says, “I knew I had to get rid of three things in my diet — potatoes, rice and sweets. I didn’t touch any of these for six months. Along with this, I walked for at least an hour every day. In fact, I walk 10,000 steps daily,” Kher told HT.

Nutritionist Kavita Devgan, says when one is aiming to lose weight, one has to opt for a healthier diet. “When you are looking for weight loss, do not work on just your calories and create a calorie deficit. Try to heal your body and create a healthy diet. When one starts eating healthy, the calories take care of themselves and the result is weight loss,” she says.
