The accused assistant general manager (AGM) of Bird Automotive, who allegedly embezzled funds to the tune of Rs 27 lakh in May 2011, allegedly made gate passes for the BMW cars and collected Rs 10.45 lakh from a client. The accused also sold off another BMW by rolling it out from the showroom as a back-up vehicle, for which he received Rs 14.76 lakh from another customer.

Showroom officials generally provide BMW cars to their privileged customers as back-up vehicles till the time their cars undergo maintenance.
Investigating officials said accused Rahul Pandey had the authority to make gate passes and allegedly misused his power on June 8 last year.
Later, Pandey allegedly kept giving statements that car, which he had sold to the customer, had broken down.
The company officials got to know about the development when Manoj Joshi made a complaint that the amount paid by him was not shown in the invoice letter. He allegedly paid Rs 14.76 lakh to Pandey for the BMW.
