BSNL asks Gurgaon to stop work on 2 roads for Modi-Hollande visit

All construction on two major roads in Gurgaon is likely to be halted for the next four days head of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Francois Hollande’s visit to the city on January 25.

State telecom service provider BSNL has written to the district administration and other civic agencies to cease construction on Gurgaon-Faridabad Road and Golf Course Road to ensure that the PM’s hotline and other telecom facilities do not develop glitches. BSNL has asked the administration to suspend road expansion and digging along the two roads.

BSNL’s letter to the administration comes a day after the service provider’s optical fibre was damaged near Golf Course Road due to digging.

A special hotline facility, an ISD and STD line has been set up in the PM’s lounge at the Nation Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) campus at Gwal Pahari located off the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road. French President Francois Hollande and PM Modi will lay the foundation of the interim secretariat of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) on January 25 at the NISE.

Meanwhile, the district administration has directed Huda and MCG to clear encroachments at Iffco Chowk, Bristol Chowk and along Gurgaon-Faridabad Road. Deputy commissioner TL Satyaprakash has appointed Tarun Pawaria, Huda estate officer 2, as the duty magistrate from January 21 to 25 to carry out the anti-encroachment drive in the areas.
