The industrialists of Udyog Vihar are anxiously awaiting the Haryana industry department’s order regarding the payment of external development charges (EDC), which has been a bone of contention between the industrial plot owners and the Haryana State Industries and Infrastructural Development Corporation (HSIIDC) for several years now.

The plot owners, who recently met state principal secretary, industries, YS Malik over the issue, have been vying to get the EDC demand from the HSIIDC cancelled.
“We made a representation to the principal secretary who has sought all records from the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) on the EDC. We are awaiting his order which is likely to come soon,” said an Udyog Vihar industry chamber representative.
On December 18 last year, HSIIDC — after drawing flak from the Punjab and Haryana High Court over the collection of the EDC — had withdrawn the demand from the industrialists.
On the petition filed by the Udyog Vihar Industries Association (UVIA), the high court had directed the financial commissioner (industries, Haryana) asking it to review the issue and “pass a fresh order in accordance with law after hearing the parties.”
The HSIIDC had taken over the land for setting up Udyog Vihar from Huda.
