With a view to enhance their interaction with the residents, the city police have launched their own page on Facebook. The residents can upload their suggestions for better policing on the social networking website.

The initiative has been taken by commissioner of police Alok Mittal. Last week, an anti-obscene call cell and a senior citizen cell were launched. The Gurgaon traffic police have already a page on Facebook.

"This will be a direct platform for the residents as well as the police department to interact with each other without any specific cases or complaints. There are many people who do not want to get into the hassle of running around police stations. This page will help them send suggestions for improvement in the system," said the police commissioner.

The police department has already decided to give laptops to the station house officers (SHOs) of all the 23 police stations in the city for better communication within the department.

A police official will be deployed to check and update the page regularly. The page was liked by 120 people on the first day of its launch. It will also display achievements of the department and new drives launched by it.

The police commissioner will also respond to the suggestions made by the residents regularly. "I will also reply to the public suggestions and appreciate their efforts. Our objective is to provide a fair and efficient police administration," said Mittal.

The page will have all the important numbers, including numbers of SHOs of the 23 police stations.
