City roads lead to nowhere

I am terribly shocked to see waterlogging in the entire city when it rains. I am sorry to say that the administration or the department responsible for the same is really least concerned. I think, it is administration’s responsibility to ensure that water does not stagnate on roads, especially on the highway and expressway.

Commuting on the expressway during a few spells of rains in the past couple of days had turned into a nightmare for motorists.

Once, I got stuck in knee-deep water somewhere between Hero Honda Chowk and Kherki Daula toll plaza. And, it took me two-and-half hours to reach home, which is hardly 30 minutes drive on normal days.

The situation was same along the entire stretch of the expressway and on other roads in the city. We all know about waterlogging and we also know its reasons. What we fail to understand is why the authorities have not been able to resolve the issue despite much hue and cry in the past five years.

How long commuters like us will suffer from waterlogging and traffic jams. Several roads have potholes but there is no one to repair them. We now feel no charm in calling ourselves as the residents of the Millennium City.
