City traffic constables hone up ‘soft skills’ in 10-week training

Around 26 constables underwent the training that consisted of theory, real-life scenarios and role plays.

The constables were also taught how to conduct a conversation in English.

“Role play exercises were conducted to teach the constables how to handle situations they encounter every day while apprehending violators or assisting commuters,” said Bharti Arora, DCP (traffic), Gurgaon.

Off late, the city police have been focusing on making its officers more accessible and responsive to public while performing its role as the law enforcement arm of the government.

As Gurgaon is the hub of MNCs, good communication skills are imperative for traffic constables.

The training programme, which concluded on Sunday, was also designed to increase the confidence of the constables through group participation.

“We appreciate this training programme as part of our ongoing association with the society and look forward to more such initiatives in the future,” added Arora.
