After a wait of nearly four months, the out-patient department (OPD) of Gurgaon Civil Hospital has finally got a physician, who is likely to assume duties on July 14.

After a wait of nearly four months, the out-patient department (OPD) of Gurgaon Civil Hospital has finally got a physician, who is likely to assume duties on July 14.

The authorities have also appointed a surgeon and a quality manager in a bid to address the staff crunch issue plaguing the hospital.

According to officials, Dr Sukhdev, who has recently completed his post-graduation, has been appointed as the OPD physician. The OPD, which sees a daily average footfall of more than 2,000 patients, had no physician for four months as the doctors were transferred to other government health facilities and the Mewat medical college.

“A physician and a surgeon have been appointed. They are supposed to join on Monday,” said Dr Asaruddin, principal medical officer (PMO), Gurgaon Civil Hospital.

While these posts have been filled, the post of radiologist continues to remain vacant. On an average, nearly 30 ultrasounds, 80 X-rays and six MRI tests are conducted daily. At present, there is only one radiographer at the department, apart from a visiting radiologist.
