After receiving the two calls within a span of six hours, the police, along with bomb squads and sniffer dogs, rushed to the areas only to realise that these were false alarms.

The Class 4 student was arrested late January 30 and Mohan Lal Dalmiya, 50, on Monday morning, the police said.

In the first incident, a Class 4 student of a private school in Manesar called the police control room from his father’s cell phone around 6:15pm. “Uncle, apke office me bomb hai (Uncle, there is bomb planted in your office),” he said.

The boy’s father was at work when he made the call. He was inspired by a movie that he watched earlier in the evening, the police said.

“It took us three hours to trace the caller. The boy had used his father’s mobile phone to make the call, and did it for fun,” inspector Jagdish Prasad, SHO Manesar, said.

In the second case, the police arrested 50-year-old Dalmiya for making a call about a terrorist in DLF City Phase 5. He told the police that he spotted a terrorist near a greenbelt of the residential area.

Dalmiya immediately disconnected the call and took out the SIM card from his cell phone. The police control room alerted the police stations near DLF City Phase 5 and the investigation was handed over to crime unit-46.

Three police teams, with a sniffer dog each, reached to the spot and began searching for the terrorist but they found nothing.

A case was registered at the Sushant Lok police station against the unknown caller under sections 182 (false information with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person), 211(false charge of offence made with intent to injure) and 507(criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of the Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the cyber crime team started tracing the caller’s location. Within minutes, it was disclosed that the caller was at a construction site in DLF City Phase 5. After the long search, the crime unit arrested Dalmiya from Tigra village in Sector 56.

Dalmiya, from Allahabad in UP, told the police that he wanted to check the department’s efficiency.

“The man had not seen any terrorist but wanted to create panic. We arrested him and asked the Allahabad police for his records,” ACP (DLF) Ramesh Pal said.
