Following widespread protests by residents over the last one week, the parking contractor of the Sector 31 market has filed a police complaint against members of the market welfare association who have been issued a legal notice.

"I have invested a huge amount to bag the parking contract and pay a monthly rent of more than R1.5 lakh to the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda). We are facing severe losses as the RWA and market association is not letting us function properly and discouraging people from paying the fee," said Brijesh Chowdhary, proprietor of Sri Ganpati Enterprises that manages the parking lot.
According to the notice issued to the market welfare association, the contractor has said that the site in Sector 31 was identified by Huda as part of the 33 locations earmarked for parking lots in Gurgaon under a Supreme Court constituted body -- Environment Protection Control Authority (EPCA).
"The parking site has been allotted according to Supreme Court guidelines and Huda needs to follow them. SC orders are the same for everyone. We will take the matter very seriously and ensure that the SC guidelines are implemented," said Chowdhary.
