Residents had complained that the barriers impeded the smooth movement of vehicles and had increased cases of reckless driving.

The police had installed the barricades to ease traffic at Jharsa Chowk during peak hours. After a written appeal from residents, police commissioner Alok Mittal directed officials to remove the barricades.

"We are grateful to the commissioner. The police said the barricades would be put up only during peak hours," said Ramesh Vashist, general secretary, Sector 15, Part-1, RWA.

"Traffic has been eased now," said ACP Vishnu Dayal.

According to the residents, the barricades had obstructed an important junction for traffic regulation as vehicles from Old Gurgaon used the stretch to reach Jharsa Chowk and the national highway.

The police had placed similar barricades in the area two months ago to regulate traffic but later removed them after protests by the residents, who said the barricades were causing problems.
