The plant at Jhajjar generates 660MW power, while Khedar produces 600MW. Both the plants collectively generate 1,260MW power.

The authorities have already informed residents about outages in the coming days.

This has come as a shocker for Gurgaonites who are already facing power cuts up to 14-18 hours for the past two days. Besides, this has also affected water supply across the city.

Officials of the power distribution company have clarified that it would take a minimum of three-four days to rectify the problem and due to this, the department has decided to impose power cuts.

“Due to the snags, Haryana would face a deficit of 1,100 MW while Gurgaon district would also face the brunt,” said Sanjiv Chopra, superintending engineer, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN).

He further said, “We have no other option than to impose cuts. We want residents to accommodate with us.”

The situation was no better on Saturday when some areas faced power cuts of 10-12 hours.

“There was no power supply from 6am till 5pm. I am planning to shift to my son’s house who resides in a gated society. They have power back-up,” said Kamlesh Nath, a resident of DLF Phase-1.

Earlier, owing to long cuts, city residents staged a protest and blocked traffic for five hours in the morning.
