Cry against ‘guest houses’ gets louder

According to them, the occupants of the guest houses often misbehave with women and misuse lifts, parks and terrace.

“There have been cases of guest house occupants misbehaving with women residents. We want a complete ban on the illegal guest houses,” said Rajiv Lamba, president of the RWA, who took a group of women residents to police commissioner KS Sindhu to lodge a complaint.

The residents also alleged that the police and the administration have done nothing to improve the situation.

“Not only do the occupants but their servants too misuse our lifts and parks,” said Alka Dasaor, a resident.

“We will take to the streets if the police and administration fail to act,” said Simran, another resident.

Meanwhile, the police raided some flats and recovered guest registers, food bills and liquor bottles which suggest that guest houses have been operating on the premises.

Essel Towers houses nearly 250 flats, of which 35 have been occupied by the owners. The rest have been leased out to second parties. Recently, the residents staged a protest after a servant in one of the guest houses misbehaved with them.
